Prepare Together
A little preparation goes a long way in easing dental anxiety. A few days before the appointment, sit down with your kids and read a book about going to the dentist. There are lots of great children’s books that explain what happens at a dental visit in a friendly, non-scary way. You can also role play with a stuffed animal so they know what to expect.
Schedule Back-to-Back Appointments
To make things easier, schedule your family’s appointments back-to-back or at the same time if you have multiple kids. Our team will do our best to accommodate your needs. This way, you only have to make the trip to our office once, and your kids can keep each other company in the waiting room with books, games, and toys we provide.
Make It a Celebration
After your dental visit, plan a fun family activity like going to the park, getting ice cream, or having a movie night at home. This gives your kids something to look forward to and reinforces the idea that going to the dentist is not something to dread. You can even let them pick out a new toothbrush with their favorite character on it as a reward for being brave!
